DNF: Evernight by Claudia Gray

A couple of weeks ago, I started reading Evernight by Claudia Gray, and at a certain point, I just couldn't finish it. That's how annoyed I was with this book. I'm not saying I never stop reading in the middle of a book, because it happens, but it's very rare, especially when I've already gotten through half of it. Unfortunately, even though I have no problem reading other people's DNF reviews, when I think about writing one, it makes me feel slightly uncomfortable, like that sticky residue feeling on your hand when you lean on that stain on the counter from where you spilled the lemonade three weeks ago and didn't really clean it properly. Okay, now I feel like I need to clean my kitchen.

Anyway, luckily for me, my friend Alison over at Winged Reviews read Evernight as well and had almost exactly the same reaction, and she actually did finish the book, so I feel no guilt whatsoever about sending you over to her review to give you an idea of what we both thought of the book. Plus now we can feel justified because our opinion is supported. Hooray self-congratulations!

Have you read Evernight? What did you think?

  2. I have read Evernight and I didn't finish it either. I was so annoyed with the book I had to put it away... I don't like feeling "tricked" by the author and that was what the author did- I thought it was ridiculous and unnecessary.

  3. I didn't care for it either. The author pulls a twist that really isn't a twist and does it in such a way that it completely cheats the reader. Plus, the characters were just flat out annoying. I feel no guilt in being that blunt since I read the part of the book that I did years before I started my blog. Just totally not for me.

I love your comments! I try to respond to them...eventually!

This is now an award-free blog. I love and totally appreciate that you thought of me, but I know myself better than to think I would be organized enough to pass them along, and that doesn't seem fair.
