On My Wishlist

"On My Wishlist" is a weekly meme hosted by the lovely ladies at Book Chick City.

One Grave at a Time

Night Huntress #6

From GoodreadsHaving narrowly averted an (under)world war, Cat Crawfield wants nothing more than a little downtime with her vampire husband, Bones. Unfortunately, her gift from New Orleans' voodoo queen just keeps on giving--leading to a personal favor that sends them into battle once again, this time against a villainous spirit.

Centuries ago, Heinrich Kramer was a witch hunter. Now, every All Hallows Eve, he takes physical form to torture innocent women before burning them alive. This year, however, a determined Cat and Bones must risk all to send him back to the other side of eternity--forever. But how do you kill a killer who's already long dead?

I'm kind of embarrassed that I haven't read this book yet. I keep hoping the library will get a copy, but I may have to give in and actually buy it soon. Halloween gift to myself?

The Name of the Rose
Umberto Eco

Fron GoodreadsThe year is 1327. Franciscans in a wealthy Italian abbey are suspected of heresy, and Brother William of Baskerville arrives to investigate. When his delicate mission is suddenly overshadowed by seven bizarre deaths, Brother William turns detective. His tools are the logic of Aristotle, the theology of Aquinas, the empirical insights of Roger Bacon--all sharpened to a glistening edge by wry humor and a ferocious curiosity. He collects evidence, deciphers secret symbols and coded manuscripts, and digs into the eerie labyrinth of the abbey, where "the most interesting things happen at night."

Along with fantasy, I really like historical fiction, particularly from before the modern era. (This may actually be a result of reading so much fantasy.) I've wanted to read this book since I saw it on listopia under "Best Historical Fiction." It's gotten some rave reviews!

  1. I really enjoyed The Name of the Rose but it was years ago, so I would love to reread it!

I love your comments! I try to respond to them...eventually!

This is now an award-free blog. I love and totally appreciate that you thought of me, but I know myself better than to think I would be organized enough to pass them along, and that doesn't seem fair.

Finally, if you're posting a URL, the code to make it actually link to your site is <.a href="your URL">your text<./a>, without the periods.
